The CIRP - Journal of Manufacturing Systems
The CIRP - Journal of Manufacturing Systems publishes research and reviewing papers
dealing with the theory and application of manufacturing systems. It provides a platform
for innovative ideas supported by advanced analytical and experimental methods of inquiry.
The recently developed concepts in information and communication science, mathematics and
physics, control systems and cybernetics, biology, psychology, material science, artificial
intelligence, economics, etc., transferred and implemented in a new generation of manufacturing
systems, suggest that a major breakthrough in this field can only be realized if an interdisciplinary
basis covering a broad range of disciplines is employed. The structural and operational complexity, as
well as the new approaches to control the manufacturing systems of today and tomorrow require on a global
level a continuous dialogue and discussion between scientists and researchers including innovation
